Accessibility Statement

Last updated: May 16, 2026

CMRU is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe that the web should work for all people, regardless of ability, and we strive to meet or exceed accessibility standards across our digital presence.

Our Standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines are developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and represent the widely accepted standard for web accessibility.

What We Do

We take the following steps to ensure accessibility on cmru.com:

  • Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and semantic elements to ensure content is structured logically for assistive technologies.
  • Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements on our site are accessible via keyboard. You can navigate the site without a mouse using Tab, Enter, Escape, and arrow keys.
  • Screen reader support: We use ARIA labels, roles, and properties where appropriate to provide context for screen reader users. We test with common screen readers to verify compatibility.
  • Color contrast: Our color palette meets WCAG AA contrast ratios for both normal and large text. We do not rely on color alone to convey information.
  • Alternative text: All meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked appropriately so screen readers skip them.
  • Responsive design: Our site works across devices and screen sizes, and supports text resizing up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Focus indicators: Visible focus states are provided for all interactive elements to help keyboard users track their position on the page.
  • Motion preferences: We respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting. Users who prefer reduced motion will see simplified or no animations.

Known Limitations

We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our site. Some areas where we are aware of limitations and are actively working on improvements include:

  • Some older or embedded third-party content may not yet meet all accessibility standards.
  • PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We are working to provide accessible alternatives for all downloadable content.
  • Interactive tools and widgets are being progressively enhanced for full keyboard and screen reader support.

Feedback

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of cmru.com. If you encounter barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please let us know:

When reporting an accessibility issue, please include the page URL, a description of the problem, and the assistive technology you were using (if applicable). We will do our best to respond within 5 business days and work toward a resolution.

Ongoing Commitment

Accessibility is not a one-time effort. We regularly review our site, train our team on accessible design practices, and incorporate accessibility into our development process from the start. As standards evolve and new tools become available, we will continue to raise the bar.
