Propose a Project
You don't need permission to have a good idea.
CMRU accepts project proposals from anyone. If you have identified a problem worth solving and have a practical approach to making progress on it, we want to hear from you. No pitch deck. No pedigree. Just substance.
What We Look For
Four criteria that matter more than credentials.
A Real Problem
The project addresses a genuine challenge that affects real people. Not a theoretical exercise. Not a solution looking for a problem. Something specific and verifiable.
A Testable Approach
You have a clear methodology or plan of action that can be evaluated. We do not need perfection. We need a hypothesis you are willing to test and refine.
A Tangible Output
The project will produce something concrete: a report, a tool, a dataset, a policy brief, a prototype. Something that outlasts the project itself and benefits others.
Honest Scope
The project is sized realistically. You know what you can accomplish with the resources and time available. Ambition is good. Overcommitment is not.
The Proposal Format
Six sections. Keep it clear. Keep it honest.
Problem
What specific problem are you addressing? Who does it affect? Why does it matter now?
Approach
How will you tackle it? What methods, tools, or frameworks will you use? What makes this approach worth trying?
Output
What will this project produce? A report, a tool, a dataset, a policy recommendation? Be specific about deliverables.
Timeline
How long will this take? What are the key milestones? When can we expect to see results?
Support Needed
What do you need from CMRU? Funding, workspace, research assistance, technical infrastructure, connections? Be direct.
About You
Who are you? What qualifies you to do this work? This does not require a resume. Just tell us why you care and what you bring.
