Advocacy & Policy

Good ideas need good policy to scale

Technology alone does not solve problems. The best innovation in the world means nothing if policy blocks it from reaching the people who need it. We work to change that.

Where We Work

Policy change happens at every level. We show up at all of them.

Level 1

Local & Regional

City council engagement, county-level digital equity programs, regional economic development strategy, and community input processes. This is where policy meets the street.

Level 2

State

Legislative testimony, state innovation fund advocacy, workforce development policy, and regulatory frameworks for emerging technology. Ohio is a bellwether for what works in the Midwest.

Level 3

Federal

Federal research funding advocacy, national AI policy input, digital infrastructure standards, and ensuring the Midwest has a seat at the table when national technology policy is shaped.

Current Priorities

The policy areas where we are focused right now.

AI Governance

Responsible frameworks for AI deployment in public services, hiring, healthcare, and criminal justice. Transparency requirements and algorithmic accountability.

Digital Equity

Broadband access, device availability, digital literacy programs, and ensuring technology investments reach underserved communities.

Research Funding

Advocating for increased public R&D investment, equitable distribution of federal research dollars, and funding mechanisms that support independent organizations.

Workforce Development

Policies that prepare workers for the technology economy. Apprenticeship programs, reskilling initiatives, and education-to-employment pipelines.

Innovation-Friendly Regulation

Regulatory sandboxes, permitting reform, and frameworks that encourage experimentation while protecting the public interest.

How We Do It

Our advocacy is grounded in evidence and built on relationships.

Policy Briefs

Short, evidence-based documents that translate complex technical topics into clear policy recommendations. Written for decision-makers, not academics.

Public Testimony

We show up. City council hearings, state legislative committees, federal comment periods. We bring data, context, and specific recommendations.

Coalitions

Policy change requires allies. We build and participate in coalitions of organizations that share our commitment to evidence-based innovation policy.

Public Education

We write, teach, and explain. Journal articles, public talks, community forums, and educational content that helps people understand the policy issues that affect their lives.
