Projects & Initiatives

What we are building right now

Every project at CMRU starts with a real problem, follows a transparent process, and produces something the public can use. Here is what is on our workbench.

How Projects Work

Every project follows the same five-step process.

1

Origin

A problem is identified. It can come from our research, a community member, a partner organization, or an open proposal. We assess whether the problem is real, scoped, and worth pursuing.

2

Scoping

We define what success looks like. Team composition, timeline, resources, stakeholders, and deliverables are documented in a public project brief before any building starts.

3

Execution

The building phase. Regular progress updates, open repositories, and community feedback loops. We work in sprints and share results as they develop, not just at the end.

4

Publication

Every project produces a published output. A tool, a dataset, a report, or a case study. Publication is not optional. If we cannot show the work, the project is not complete.

5

Archive

Completed projects are archived with full documentation: what worked, what did not, what we learned, and what others should know before attempting similar work.

Propose a Project

Have a problem worth solving? We accept project proposals from anyone. The best ideas come from people closest to the problem.

Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis. We look for clearly defined problems, measurable outcomes, and community impact.
